Physical Therapy Assistant

Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the clinic manager/supervising physical therapist, this position provides physical therapy treatment, documents all pertinent patient treatment information.
Incumbent must exercise independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize the workload required to complete the work assigned. Incumbent will recommend changes in office practices and procedures as necessitated by business needs.

Job Specifications:
  • Performs physical therapy procedures and related tasks delegated by the supervising physical therapist.
  • Modifies specific treatment procedures in accordance with changes in patient status within the scope of the established treatment plan.
  • Documents all procedures, plans and pertinent interactions regarding the patient’s treatment in physical therapy.
  • Carries out routine operational functions of the clinic.
  • Carries out routine operational functions of the clinic.
  • If supervising physical therapist is off-site, physical therapist assistant must be able to contact them by phone when treating patients.
  • Regular discussions held between physical therapist and physical therapist assistant regarding patients.
  • Physical therapist reevaluation should be preformed every fifth visit or when there is a change in patient condition not consistent with planned progress or treatment goals.
  • Supervising therapist is directly responsible for the physical therapist assistant.
Job Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited PTA degree program.
  • Intermittent physical activity including but not limited to bending, reaching, and prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • PTA will be required to work at an IRG facility and be responsible for their own transportation to and from work site.
