Sports Performance Team, Who and What.

IRG Sports Performance Team

When you think of IRG, you may just think of physical therapy, but did you know we provide other services to the community as well? One of our main foundational services include sports performance.

If you or someone you know has gone to physical therapy, you may have seen individuals or a group of color coordinated coaches in the gym, or on the sidelines of sports practices. These highly trained individuals are the heart and soul of IRG’s Sports Performance Team. Our team of certified specialists works with athletes every day on injury prevention, athletic development, nutrition, speed and agility training, and strengthening. These amazing people don’t just help those in high school, but can customize work outs for elementary school programs, select teams, wellness programs, and adults as well. One of the benefits of IRG’s Performance Programs is the ability to not only maintain your training year round, but improve upon it.

The Sports Performance 10-week program at IRG offers customized strength, power, and speed & agility training that focus on long-term athletic development and injury prevention for athletes of all levels. IRG’s Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists work with individuals, teams, and institutional organizations to accomplish all athletic goals both in-season and off-season. You can find our sports performance programs embedded into many local communities and schools year round. This includes Kamiak High School, Mariner High School, Archbishop Murphy High School, and more. In-season programs focus on maintaining and peaking performance levels throughout the postseason while continuing to enhance sport-specific skills and injury reduction. The off-season programs focus on building strong, resilient, and powerful teams both mentally and physically. With the use of positive coaching and creating challenging sport-specific team environments they produce championship habits for years to come. Although all of our programs are centered around working hard, they also help to build confidence, leadership, and support of teammates on and off the field.

Our sports performance training programs include:

  • Dynamic flexibility, mobility, and stability
  • Sport-specific training programs
  • Improved speed, power, agility, reaction, and quickness
  • Strength training by certified professionals

Off Season Strength and Conditioning – The off season Strength and Conditioning programming addresses issues such as individual weaknesses, movement deficiency, body asymmetries for injury prevention, and Sport Specific Periodized (phased) programming to to help power, strength, and performance based improvements. We use the off season to reset our athletes in order to help them improve. For those who are interested we also provide new methods and competitive approaches for workouts to keep our athletes energized and passionate about their sport.

In Season Strength and Conditioning – Often the missing link in midseason peak performance, injury prevention, and continued post season play is just as crucial to conditioning. IRG Staff will work with Head Coaches in order to assimilate properly phased Strength and Conditioning protocols into practice windows before or after in season workouts and recovery sessions to ensure optimal student athlete health.

Other Services Offered:

Athletic Training and Rehabilitation – Injuries happen, but be assured that when they do you have a complete team of Certified Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists ready to get your student athlete back to full function. With 29 different locations and numerous ATC’s available on call 24/7, we have you covered. Our staff’s collaborative efforts give you and your athlete a professional and well-rounded team dedicated to your health.

Baseline Testing and Pre Injury Screening – Screenings help assess potential injury risks and movement deficiencies so you can implement programs to help avoid devastating injuries like ACL or Rotator Cuff ruptures. Partnered resources can also screen for sports physical and concussion baseline testing on site.

Nutritional Team Counseling and Presentations – Not only does preparing for competition happen off the field, but developing healthy life skills also turn into routine habits with the athlete and nutrition. IRG Performance Staff have the expertise, experience, and certification in Athletic Nutrition to establish healthy lifestyle years beyond High School. Along with our sports performance staff, we have nutritionists available for presentations and discussions with athletes to aid in establishing health conscious habits.

Some of our current and former athletes include Division 1 athletes, NFL athletes, MLB athletes, marathon runners, and more. For a list of those who have trained with us, please feel free to ask! All programming, training, and presentations are held with the coaches and athletes time in mind. IRG Staff have the experience of collaborating with High School, College, and Professional Coaches to implement the best Sports Specific Programming with the personal needs of all athletes in mind.
