Gait Analysis

Feedback from gait analysis will help you walk or run more efficiently.

Analyzing the way you move your body from one point to another – whether walking or running – can highlight biomechanical abnormalities that lead to many common injuries, such as:

  • Shin splints
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Patellar tendonitis
  • Patello-femoral knee pain
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Lower back pain

Our practitioners will observe and carefully assess the way that you move your feet, ankles, knees and hips, specifically looking at pronation. Pronation, the turning-inward movement of your foot as it touches the ground, provides cushioning for the body.

Your gait cycle may be videotaped while you walk or run on a treadmill, to help demonstrate to you where adjustments should be made. Feedback from gait analysis will help you walk or run more efficiently, with the goal of relieving and eliminating overuse injuries.
